Vision & Performance

Sports Performance

Vision is Key to Sports Success

Strong visual skills are critical to sports success. Not much happens in sports until the eyes instruct the hands and body as to what to do. Timing, aiming, balance and consistency are all affected by vision. A player who can focus quicker and more accurately, with better depth perception and peripheral awareness will have a leading edge over his opponent. With vision being the dominant sense in most sport, maximising all aspects of vision maximises sporting performance.

Why is Vision so Important?

Vision involves many subtle and sophisticated links between the brain, muscles and the eyes; the way the eyes work and how this information is processed and fed back to the body will have an effect on: balance,  timing and anticipation,  reaction times and aiming, accuracy,  hand-eye-foot co-ordination and maintenance of high levels of concentration. Similarly, inefficient visual systems can be affected by:  dehydration, stress and tiredness. Although vision is only one of the many components of accomplished sports performance, one needs to ensure that any underlying visual deficits have been addressed, since they may be the reason for inconsistencies in performance, concentration issues or fatigue and game stress.

How Vision Training Helps

A program of Vision Training, also known as Vision Therapy, significantly improves: visual reaction time, tracking, speed of localisation, eye-hand coordination, visual stamina, peripheral awareness, visualisation, depth perception, vision balance integration, dynamic visual acuity and many other  factors that are crucial for both the amateur and professional player!

By seeing better, you play better; because what and how you see, affects everything you will do in the game.
